CSS Grid vs. Flexbox: Choosing the Right Tool

The debate between CSS Grid and Flexbox misses the point—they’re complementary tools designed for different jobs. Flexbox excels at one-dimensional layouts, arranging items in rows or columns with flexible sizing. Use it for navigation bars, card layouts within a container, or any component where items need to wrap or distribute space evenly.

Grid shines for two-dimensional layouts where you need control over both rows and columns simultaneously. Page-level layouts, complex dashboards, and magazine-style designs become trivial with Grid. The real power move is combining them: use Grid for your overall page structure, then Flexbox for components within grid areas. Modern browsers support both fully, so there’s no reason to limit yourself to one approach.
